Canoe
Base Macrocarpa gives you access through the Ottawa River to several wetlands that abound in aquatic wildlife and a lush floral plantlife, typical of the Ottawa River. By canoe, one may see otters, beavers, muskrats, several species of turtles, the small and grand heron, eagles, falcons and dragonflies. An excursion not to miss during your stay at the Base!

Rental of canoes and service of a guide are available at the Base. Upon request we can organize package deals for canoe, kayak and rafting expeditions with enterprises of the area, on the Black River, Ottawa and Coulonge rivers.

Swimming
The Base gives you access to the Ottawa River. Its water, given the weak population and industrialization, is of good quality. Also, some of the camping sites are situated directly on the shores. Finally, other areas are available for swimming within 5 minutes of the Base.
